As many people are learning the English language as their second or third language, it is especially important and easier for them to acquire it through learning English literature. English literature is a vast and rewarding area of study for Armenian students. In second language classrooms, teachers are assigned to teach not only the language itself, but also the culture, history and traditions of the countries and people, whose language we learn.
The primary purpose of this field is to survey the most important authors, genres, and trends of British and American novel of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Thus, English literature will make the language learners be competent in learning both the English language and its culture.
By learning Literature the students will improve their language skills, as well as form cultural competence which is necessary for living in the multicultural world.
