Similarities of Mother Tongue in Terms of Grammar and Language Structure
A revival of interest to using a mother tongue in the English classroom is stipulated by necessity to improve language accuracy, fluency and clarity.
English-Armenian Interdisciplinary lesson aims at examining students’ perceptions of the use of mother tongue learning various grammar issues. The findings in methodology demonstrate that sometimes learners need a support of mother tongue in English classes, but the amount of the native language needed depends on students’ proficiency in English. For some students the idea of abandoning the native tongue is too
stressful to many learners, who need a sense of security in the experience of learning a foreign language.
Very often when learning a tough grammar, they want to feel firm ground seeking for the same phenomenon in their native language. With this purpose in mind the teachers of English and Armenian introduce their approaches in teaching The Infinitive to their pupils. This approach is worth considering. The observers come to a common agreement that in order to achieve success a variety of methods should be used in English classroom.
