International Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30 September on the feast of St. Jerome. It is the annual event for our literary community, as it is a splendid opportunity for teachers and students to come together and decide on a theme for each year. We mark this day by translating emoji and invite friends to join in celebrating the day around the theme.
In spite of a relatively recent entry in our life, the language of emoji is becoming more and more popular. The students have fun learning English idioms through emojis and translating the book of the month “The Old Man and the Sea” by E. Hemingway into emoji.
