The open class in grade 11-1 is aimed at illustrating the influence of English on other languages in general and Armenian in particular. Loanwords and borrowings seem inevitable when languages are in contact. This process is unavoidable as people all over the world have to meet the communicational needs due to globalization. The issue of loan words is not new, it has been thoroughly researched by linguists.
Today, we are keen on revealing some new loan words that have recently been adopted by Armenian speakers.
What can speed up the process of borrowing? The students try to find the answer to this problem using Case Study Method.
We are unable to predict historical events that change our life dramatically. They interfere all the spheres of human activity, disturb and accelerate the course of history. They have great impact on mankind and eventually find the reflection in languages.
Case Study Method enables students to make research on the task given, analyze and resolve it. School subjects themselves fully reflect the whole spectrum of human activity. The task is the following; the class is divided into groups; each group has to take one school subject to reveal the existence of the recently borrowed words. (for example, History, Geography, Social Study, Physics, Biology and etc.)
